WHEN the new Lifeline Regional Manager, Cheryl Shaw arrived in Ipswich late last year she was amazed at the generosity of local residents.

A first up tour of Lifeline’s main distribution centre at Briggs Road, Raceview revealed it was full to the brim with all sorts of quality donations.

A few months ago, they moved thousands of books from the centre at their annual Book Fair, but that didn’t really make a dent on their inventory.

“We raised over $30,000 at the Book Fair and people came from kilometres away to grab a bag full of novels and children’s books.” Cheryl said.

“That was a great boost for the 24-hour telephone counselling line service we are dedicated to and now we are planning another major fundraiser.

“Our volunteers have gone through the crates of goods we have and selected the best for a huge weekend garage sale on Saturday and Sunday, June 10 and 11.

“If you are looking for anything at a bargain price, I sure you will find it here, but you may have to get here early.”

Over the weekend all items of adult clothing will be priced at $3, while children’s clothes will be just $2 each.

Items such as tennis rackets, golf clubs, pots and pans and lost more are all individually priced to go.

The doors will open both days at 7am with the shutters rolling down at 4.30pm.
