PHOTO: AAP - NIGHT OUT: “Daddy’s Home” starring Will Ferrell is the movie selected for the next Lisa’s Lunches fundraising night
LISA’S Lunches started at the beginning of 2018 in memory of Ipswich local Lisa Heuston who died of
cancer in November 2017.
Her cancer journey spanned several years, and close friend Jacqui Martin saw first-hand the impact it was having on her young family and how much her husband and two children struggled during that difficult time.
The complex journey of treatment, surgeries, long hospital stays, and illness also resulted in financial hardship for Lisa and her family.
After feeling so helpless during Lisa’s cancer journey, Jacqui knew she not only wanted to help but there was need for practical assistance for those on the same path. Jacqui and a small team started packing lunch packs to give to the families to take the stress out of trying to find time and money for school snacks and Lisa’s Lunches was born as a result.
Lisa’s Lunches has to date given out over 24,000 lunch packs and has now become an incorporate association and a registered charity in Queensland. The service is free and is completely funded through donations of food and time from the Ipswich community.
Lisa’s Lunches will hold their first fundraising event on Friday, August 5 at 6.30pm with a movie night.
Lisa loved comedy and her favourite actor was Will Ferrell so in her honour Daddy’s Home starring Will
Ferrell will be screened at Limelight Cinemas.
Tickets include a small popcorn, soft drink and a donation to Lisa’s Lunches and can be purchased by emailing lisaslunchesipswich@gmail.com
