STUDIO 188 in Ipswich was transformed into a captivating battleground for the school Battle of the Bands recently with “Spire” from Bremer State High School coming out as champions.

The event highlighted the talents of four schools’ bands as they vied for the coveted title.

The competing bands, Repent L’Amore and Spire from Bremer State High School, Down by the Damba from Bundamba State Secondary College, Default Value from Ipswich State High School, and Black Iris from Redbank Plains State High School took to the stage one by one, captivating the crowd with their unique sounds and undeniable passion for music.

Each band had the opportunity to perform two songs of their choice, showcasing a diverse range of genres and styles.

From timeless classics like Elton John’s “Rocket Man” to contemporary hits such as Paramore’s “This is Why,” the atmosphere at Studio 188 was electric with the energy of live music.

The daunting task of determining a winner fell upon the experienced shoulders of three guest judges, all distinguished musicians.

The exceptional musicianship, professionalism and captivating stage presence displayed by Spire undeniably won over both the judges and the audience.

Down by the Damba finished second.
