JUST as we were about to go to print we got wind of some wild news with the Discovery Channel in the USA planning a tour of their famous show that all race fans are addicted to – Street Outlaws No Prep Kings and the second stop on the tour is at our own Willowbank Raceway.
With millions of followers around the globe the Discovery Channel decided that the best place to kick off the first external event for the series was down under in an Australia vs Street Outlaws NPK.
Bringing a contingency of cars from the US with the top eight of the championship and two extras on board the ships and destination Australia is the target. Scott Taylor, Disco Dean, Robin Roberts, Jerry Bird,
Lizzy Musi, Kye Kelley, Ryan Martin, Justin Swan, Shawn Ellington and Jeff Lutz, who have visited Australia before are headlining it for the USA.
The Australian field is yet to be decided, who has what it takes to take home the gold!
This event will be the biggest high profile drag racing event to hit the country since the 90s with the old wild bunch that helped shape the sport in Australia.
We had a little teaser a few years ago with the Outlaw Armageddon events with one or two cars coming over for the event but nothing like this, the Discovery Channel is bringing over 100 crew members to film the event and promote down under to the world through the sport of Drag Racing.
At the Outlaw Armageddon event the traffic was backed up all the way past the Ripley turn off all from
Willowbank Raceway and that was in the infant stages of the show, now five years on its going to be wild.
The following of the show and having the iconic cars at the Willowbank Dragstrip is going to put the Ipswich Motoring Precinct on the map and bring so much into the community through hospitality, accommodation, fuel, workshops and local businesses will benefit over the weekend of March 3-4 .
