COUNCILLOR Paul Tully’s fight to keep the historic Carroll House in Goodna is over with developers handed the green light to move the home to Rosewood.
The pre-1946 dwelling will now be relocated from 16 Queen Street, Goodna, to a vacant property at 3 Unnamed Road, Rosewood.
Ipswich City Council considered the matter in September as part of a development application seeking approval to uproot the house and build a KFC outlet on the land.
Cr Tully applied to the Queensland Heritage Council to list the home so the developer would be stopped from moving one of the few historical homes in Goodna.
Carroll House had been listed by the previous council under Schedule 3 “Identified Places of Interest”, which encouraged the conservation of the house.
The heritage council decided for several reasons that the house couldn’t be saved.
Relevant and reasonable conditions have been included with respect to the retention of appropriate building fabric for the relocated dwelling,
