FOR the past 41 years Anne Hillard has been standing tall at St Mary’s College as one of their most respected teachers.
Last week she called time out and officially retired from her position.
Anne has, in her own words, “had a long and wonderful” association with the College.
She taught Accounting, Business, and Legal Studies along with Certificate pathways and many learning opportunities in Years 7-10 in Business and HASS.
Anne was the foundation Horan House Co-ordinator and also acted in Academic Co-ordinator roles. Educated herself by the Mercy Sisters, Anne understands the importance of the college’s rich tradition and brought that to the classroom for many generations of St Mary’s College students.
When the school community was informed of her impending retirement they sent through numerous messages of thanks.
Here are jut a few of those messages which were mentioned at her farewell afternoon tea.
“Anne, your genuine care and concern for students and staff along with your love of teaching and learning has always been an inspiration to so many.
It has been a truly great privilege to have become your colleague over the past five years after having been one of your students many years ago.
My high school friends still remember you with such fondness and you will be forever implanted in our hearts and memories as the wonderful ‘Miss Bohan’.
Thank you for the guidance and support you have given to me.” – Angela Walsh
“Anne, you are ‘one of a kind’-always supportive, caring and compassionate as a friend, colleague and mentor.
We wish you the very best with your future endeavours and enjoy time with your family and friends.” – Phil Folan
“Anne, congratulations on your amazing career! The girls who have been taught by you are very lucky. Thank you for always being a friendly face and empathetic ear!
I will miss your sense of humour around the place..” – Emma
