FOR 28 years David Pahlke put his heart and soul into representing the Rosewood district as their councillor.
He weathered the controversial storms and never waived from his role to do the best for his constituents.
The legacy of his work is now on show throughout the district and his passion for the area has never been questioned.
It’s now history that his association with the area as its representative ended when he was unceremoniously sacked by the government along with the entire council back in 2018.
He was collateral damage because of mistakes by others and he has spoken openly about the personal pain he suffered when the council came crashing down.
I write today about David because he is now back in the headlines and it’s all to do with his name getting removed from a replacement plaque at a local Rosewood park.
Council has defended the issue by saying that it is just adhering to new signage rules and regulations.
All well and good, but what I’d like to know is who signed off on the new sign? You don’t just take it upon yourself to make an edit, it needs to be discussed and agreed on.
I thought the furore around the removal of the Pisasale name was long behind us, but it seems we are back on the same old broken down horse.
Those who step forward in this community to work to make it a better place should be recognised and rewarded, even if it’s just having their name on a small plaque.
Council can change any policy that it currently has in place regarding signage. Is their a leader in our current team who is prepared to step up and do it?
Don’t hold your breath waiting. I’d love to be wrong on this one.
