IT’S A BIG congratulations to Ipswich Show Society President Darren Zanow, his committee, volunteers and helpers on an outstanding 150th anniversary Ipswich Show.

This year’s Show had something for everyone with amazing displays, exhibits, performers, sideshow alley, animals, ring events and capped off each night with brilliant fireworks.

Sideshow alley was expanded this year and the patrons spent big on the rides and attractions.

The show certainly lived up to its hype, and I didn’t hear of anyone leaving that wasn’t impressed.
It was wonderful to see a bumper crowd for the three days with perfect weather, and I’m looking forward to next year’s event already.

There were classics in all styles at the annual Hot Rod Show.

Classics back

Sunday saw the return of the “Fine Iron Hot Rod & Classic Car & Bike Show” after a three year hiatus due to Covid and bad weather.

More than 700 cars were on display at Ebbw Vale Soccer Field and almost as many set ups for the car boot sale.

I didn’t know GMH made so many EH Holdens with dozens of immaculate vehicles on display.

Many of the muscle and classic cars looked better than they would on a showroom floor, and are credit to their proud owners.

Well done to Gary and his team on a fantastic event, which drew car lovers from all over SE Queensland to admire some amazing vehicles.

This once again supports the notion that Ipswich is the capital of classic and muscle cars in the State.

Hayley Petersen from Swifts Hockey Club was named in the U18 Hockey Queensland Gold Team to compete in Hobart in July at the u18 Australia National Championships.

Athletes excelling

Hayley Petersen is the latest Ipswich Hockey player to represent Qld and will line up for the U18 National Titles in Hobart in July.

Former Western Pride Juniors Dylan Wenzel-Halls and Dan Hall will be playing for Central Coast Mariners this weekend in the A-League grand-final.

We wish them the best, in their pursuit of the Australian title.

It looks like Summer has finally gone.

I trust you are enjoying the milder weather, even though it’s starting to get hard to get out of bed in the morning.

Have a great week and stay warm.
