You may start seeing mowing crews out and about as mowing season is upon us, but you will be hearing less of them as two new fully electric ride-on mowers join Council’s mowing fleet.
Mayor Teresa Harding said the new electric ride-on mowers were cost effective, sustainable and much quieter and are sure to be greatly appreciated by residents living near parks.
In recent times council has expanded its mowing crews, increased the mowing schedule from nine weeks to six weeks and launched an interactive mowing map to give residents greater access to council services.
The two electric mowers will join the existing fleet which has 21 mowers, 27 tractors, 12 push mowers and three all-terrain mowers.
Council now has a team of 100 officers managing maintenance across the city’s parks, major thoroughfares, urban footpaths, sports fields and drains areas.
The mowing crews mow about 44,000 acres of parkland and sports fields each year across Ipswich. Dog off-leash area reopens
