FOLLOWING the success of Black Snake Creek Festival, Marburg has again brought another fun filled and entertaining community event to us in The Great Marburg Bake Off.

Contents
  • Pop Up Art Exhibition
  • Christmas Pantomime.

The best home bakers, cooks and artists competed in the annual Bake Off and “Let them Art cake’ art competition.

What started out three years ago as an endeavour to just have a fun cake competition has really grown into something wonderful.

Organiser Erin Davis said he was thrilled with the turnout and entries into this year’s Bake Off with the number of entries exceeding her expectations.

The Bake Off was held at the Anglican Church Hall and the Art Exhibition in the Green Shed in Marburg.
One of the things about the Great Marburg Bake Off (not counting all the delicious cakes) is that it is not just about baking but it is about coming together as a community, but with cake and art.

Entries into the bake off were judged by a bona fide Qld Show Cookery Judge. The winners were announced the steps of the hall and you can check out the winners of each category of the Bake Off on the Marburg Bake Off website.

Of course, for those of us who cannot cook and not into baking cakes, there was an Art Competition, ‘Let Them Art Cake’.

Artists were able to profess their love of cake through their art.

The Bake Off Art Competition was expertly curated by Rebecca Lewis and hung in the Green Shed opposite the bake off hall.

The winners of the art competition were:

Open Section was Helen Pilkington, second Glen Smith and third Amanda Janse Van Rensberg.

In the Primary School section winner was Lily Maguire, second Grace Ashburn and third Harriet Walker.

Christmas Pantomime.

You know Christmas is just around the corner when Ipswich Little Theatre Daytime Theatre Troupe’sChristmas pantomime is on offer.

The Daytime Theatre Troupe has been going for 40 years and to celebrate this event they are putting on a show that will please even the biggest bar hum bug.

‘Santa’s Aussie Bush Christmas Surprise’ is another play from the talented and long- time member of Daytime Theatre Troupe’s founding member, director and actor, Kay McAllan.

Santa wants you to join him on this fun filled Aussie Bush Christmas Adventure. Santa’s friends from Whoop Whoop Valley have a special surprise for Santa this year. Our bush animal friends are busy making some cracker Christmas decorations to spruce up their bush home for Christmas.

You got to see this year’s handmade recycled Christmas tree for yourself to believe it.

The show is filled with wonderful characters, dancing and Christmas songs that will entertain the very young and the young at heart.

Most of the performances will be at schools and kindies but there is a public performance and if the public want to come along on other days, this could be possible depending on the size of the school group.

The dates for the shows are the October 31 and on November 1, 3, 7, 9, 10 with two shows a day. The public matinee is on Saturday, November 4 at 10am.

Cost is only $8 per person and there are group bookings available as well. The shows will be performed at the Incinerator Theatre complex, Burley Griffin Drive Ipswich.
