Work is continuing across the city to repair the 365km of sealed roads impacted by the devastating 2022 floods. Right now work is underway on Wharf Street, Ipswich Central including patch repairs to the road surface, edge repair, asphalt surfacing and bitumen seal. Residents are asked to avoid parking vehicles on the road for the duration of work to avoid any unnecessary delays. Work is expected to be finished by 22 January.
FUNDS BOOST FOR ICONIC EVENTS
Two of Ipswich’s iconic and most popular events will receive a combined $50,000 in financial support from Ipswich City Council this year. The 151st Ipswich Show, to be held on 17-19 May, will receive $30,000 while the Ipswich Cup, which will be hosted by the Ipswich Turf Club on 22 June will receive $20,000.
GOSPEL CHOIR BRINGS HOPE
The Grammy-winning Soweto Gospel Choir will bring its all-new concert, Hope, to Ipswich Civic Centre on Sunday 4 February. Celebrating songs and anthems from the freedom movement of Nelson Mandela’s South Africa and the civil rights movement of Martin Luther King’s 1950s America, the show includes renditions of legendary artists James Brown, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin.
WILDLIFE AT THE LIBRARY
Join the fun with experienced educators and conservationists from Wildcall Wildlife as they introduce some really wild guests at Springfield Central Library tomorrow 19 January from 9am to 11am. The event is free, no bookings required. It offers a chance to get up close and personal with amazing Australian native animals.

Ipswich City Council’s free community immunisation clinics have reopened for 2024. An updated schedule through to July is now available, with one to two clinics on offer across three venues each month.
