The beer is cold, the T-bones and parmis are hot and delicious, and live music is pumping throughout the year, making the Walloon Hotel the place to be.

The historic hotel exudes country charm and hospitality just a few minutes from Ipswich City.

It’s not unusual for locals to arrive on horseback and tie up out the front as the menu showcases quality local produce sourced and served in generous portions in a restaurant that spills out to undercover outdoor decks.

Publican Stewart Gibson and his wife Katie moved from Cairns to take over the hotel, formerly known as the Walloon Saloon, for the family-owned Gibson Group.

Their philosophy is built on providing a welcoming, family-friendly and affordable dining experience, with a $12 lunch menu available weekdays, and dinner specials from Monday to Thursday.

They pride themselves on their special food nights, including a Wednesday steak night where you can devour a Black Angus rump for $16.

Monday night at Walloon Hotel will smash your appetitie and bring back memories of home with a mouthwatering feast – Roast Pork Night.

Indulge in tender roast pork served with hearty veggies, rich gravy, and crispy crackling, all for just $12.

They’ve also just announced a brand new, red hot Tuesday special where for just $20 you can savour a succulent 300g club T-bone paired with chips, salad and sauce, a deal available for both lunch and dinner.

“It’s so country,” Stewart says of the town of Walloon.

“Yet you’re just eight minutes out of the city and 40 minutes from Brisbane.”

There’s a rodeo at the hotel every July, a steady stream of live touring musicians playing throughout the year, and Friday night raffles with about $1200 worth of prizes given away every week.

Walloon Hotel is located at 1 Queen St, Walloon and is open from 10am-2am daily.
