FOR 12-year-old Will Igini, football is life – he lives and breathes the sport.
Excitement is in the air at Ipswich Knights Football Club as Will, one of the club’s own, has been selected to join the prestigious Met West Under-12 team.
“I am so excited,” Will said. “It was a moment that I realised that you really can achieve anything with a lot of hard work.”
A standout player in the Knights’ under-12s academy team, Will is the only player from his club to earn this honour this year.
Will’s selection is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and exceptional skills on the field. The talented young athlete will be heading to Townsville this August to compete with the Met West team, a significant milestone in his budding football career.
Will’s coach and father is Adam O’Sullivan, a well-known figure in the Ipswich football and cricket communities, who has been instrumental in nurturing his son’s talent from a young age.
“Will has always shown a great passion for the game and a commitment to improve,” Adam said.
“Seeing him achieve this is a proud moment for our family and the Ipswich Knights Football Club.”
Not only is Will excelling on the football field, but he is also making strides in his academic journey.
He is in his first year of high school at Ripley Valley State Secondary College, where he is enrolled in the Football Excellence Program. This program further hones his skills and provides him with top-tier training and educational support.
The Ipswich Knights community is buzzing as Will prepares for this exciting opportunity.
His selection not only highlights his individual talent but also brings recognition to the club’s robust youth development program.
In Townsville he will carry the hopes and support of his hometown.
