The championship game saw Australia maintain authority, against a New Zealand side that kept the score line close.

However, turnovers from the Trans-Tasman rival gave Australia an 11-point advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Australia’s unwavering defence held the New Zealanders to just 22 points at halftime heading to the main break with a commanding 43-22 lead.

The girls in green and gold moved the ball far better than their opponent with the control in the assists column of box score in their favour for the game 20-7.

The glass was shattered by the Australians also as the girls outnumbered in that stat area with a total 71 rebounds – 45 of those on the defensive end showing their ability on both ends of the court.

Shooting efficiency told the story — New Zealand’s accuracy fell below 30%, while Australia dominated inside the paint and found wide-open looks from beyond the arc.

From deep the Australians were shooting at a 27.3 percent clip with nine from 33 attempts made, their two-point hits were nearly at 50 percent making 25 of 56 attempts up close.

The stand out performances were across the board showcasing depth and the whole team effort.

Their toughest test came in the group stage against New Zealand.
