THE FUTURE is bright for Queensland’s students if the academic results performed by the Class of 2024 is any indicator.

Schools throughout the state saw 55,469 students graduate, with QCE Achievement Award winners for exceptional efforts announced at the end of last month.

Of the graduating group, 95% of graduates achieved a QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education) or a QCIA (Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement).

Thirty-eight students also received a QCE Achievement Award in the following categories: Distinguished Academic Achievers, Outstanding Academic Achiever, Highest Achievement by an Aboriginal Student or Torres Strait Islander Student, Highest Achievement in the Humanities, Highest Achievement in the Liberal Arts and Highest Achievement in STEM.

These awards recognise the exceptional academic achievements of the top performing 0.06% of Year 12 graduates in 2024.

Another 1678 students received Certificates of Academic Commendation for achieving an A grade in at least six general subjects and 720 students received Subject Achievement Commendations for the highest result in at least one general subject.

Minister for Education John-Paul Langbroek said achieving the QCE was a significant qualification that would underpin students’ post-school success.

“Congratulations to all Year 12 graduates – you have worked hard, applied yourself and now the world is open to you in any way you’d like to tackle it,” Mr Langbroek said.

“Congratulations also to QCE award winners on their exceptional achievements. The talent of Queensland’s young people never ceases to amaze me.”

“The Crisafulli Government is committed to supporting our schools right across the state, to ensure students receive world-class education.”

QCAA CEO Jacqueline Wilton said schooling in Queensland, through the QCE, catered for the interests, abilities, and aspirations of all senior students through a diverse range of pathways.

The annual QCE Achievement Awards ceremony will be at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, February 15.
