IPSWICH’S own future hoops queen Jemyma Manyok has received a state representative jersey following her recent campaign with the Australian Sapphires.
A few days shy of her 16th birthday, Manyok has been selected in the U18 Queensland South Girls State Team.
All Queensland teams will compete at the U18 National Championships held at Northside from April 5.
Making her debut for the Australian Sapphires, Manyok competed at the Oceania Championships in Canberra in November last year.
The Sapphires took out the U15 Oceania Cup Championships with a big final win over New Zealand 93-44.
The title was an historic third straight FIBA U15 Oceania Cup title for the Australians.
The 6’5” Manyok played five minutes of court time in the final for four rebounds and zero points, however she had a decent showing in the side’s dominant 119-20 semi-final win against Tonga.
In that game she finished with four points and five rebounds with 12 minutes of court time.
Manyok hit the court in green and gold having never played in a Queensland State team, making the national representative experience even more impressive.
She became the first Ipswich basketball junior to make an Australian team since Grace George played for the Sapphires in 2017.
The Foot Locker U18 National Championships will be from April 6-13 with pool games from Sunday, April 6 before quarter-finals on Friday, April 11, semi-finals on Saturday, April 12 and the grand final on Sunday, April 13.
