A MAJOR jobs boom has hit Ipswich with nearly 20,000 new positions created over the past two-and-a-half years.
According to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data, employment in the region has increased by 10.5 per cent since 2022, bringing the total number of local jobs to 204,600.
The new Suntory beverage manufacturing facility at Swanbank, along with distribution centres for Australia Post, Coles, and L’Oréal, have driven job creation in the area.
Additionally, Rheinmetall’s military vehicle centre of excellence in Redbank has played a key role in the jobs boom.
The company has employed about 600 people, while also supporting hundreds of additional jobs through a defence contract secured by the Federal Government to produce and export Boxer Heavy Weapon Carrier vehicles to Germany.
Another major employer, JBS, has expanded its operations at the Dinmore meat processing plant, adding over 500 jobs and introducing a second shift in response to growing global demand for Australian beef.
Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann welcomed the strong job growth, highlighting its positive impact on local families and businesses.
He emphasised that these new jobs were creating more career opportunities and strengthening Ipswich’s economy.
“These extra jobs are a great result for Ipswich, as they bring more career opportunities and strengthen our local economy,” Mr Neumann said.
