Queensland detectives have charged 15 individuals with more than 50 offences following a major operation targeting the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang and its alleged criminal activities.
Operation Whiskey Rebound, launched in September 2024, focused on investigating gang members and associates involved in drug trafficking, extortion, recruitment, arson, and weapons crimes.
In early February, detectives executed simultaneous search warrants across South East Queensland.
The operation led to the discovery of firearms, ammunition, a grow house with 19 plants, large quantities of cocaine, cannabis, methylamphetamine, and about $20,000 in cash.
A suspected “safe house” in Darra was also raided, uncovering a kilogram of cocaine, 85 grams of methylamphetamine, cannabis plants, one firearm, and two kilograms of cannabis.
Among those charged, three men face allegations of recruiting individuals into criminal organisations.
A 52-year-old Darra man was charged with drug production and possession, while a 37-year-old Darra man faced multiple drug charges, plus possession of suspected proceeds from a crime.
Two women at the scene were issued warnings.
In another development, the Queensland Police Service has partnered with the Australian MedicAlert Foundation to launch the Safe and Found initiative.
This initiative aims to assist individuals with dementia, autism, or cognitive impairments who may wander.
With over 150,000 children with autism and 80,000 people with dementia in Queensland, the program aims to improve search and rescue capabilities, aiding in the safe return of vulnerable individuals.
