“The closest thing to American BBQ I’ve had since leaving the States.”

That was my first thought after sinking my teeth into the smoky, tender spread served up by the Springlake Hotel – and it’s a sentiment I’ll happily stand by.

On a sunny Wednesday afternoon, I decided to visit the Springfield Lakes location for lunch, and what a decision it was.

Whether you choose to dine inside the spacious bistro or outside by the family-friendly kids’ area, the venue offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere suited to guests of all ages.

From the moment I arrived, the staff impressed with their friendly service and genuine hospitality.

There’s a new menu on the horizon, promising fresh additions in the coming weeks, but one standout that’s not going anywhere is the Smokehouse menu.

I opted for the Butcher’s Board, and it was nothing short of spectacular.

At $56, it’s exceptional value for what can only be described as a meat lover’s paradise.

The board arrives generously stacked with slow-cooked smoked brisket that’s so tender it could be cut with a spoon, alongside rich pulled lamb, juicy pulled pork, and a smoked cheddar and jalapeno hot link that adds the perfect punch of heat.

Every element was complemented by an array of house-made sauces, crisp coleslaw, and a sweet cornbread that balanced the smokiness of the meats beautifully.

While the bistro menu continues to serve up classic pub favourites, it’s the Smokehouse selections that truly elevate the dining experience.

Each item is smoked fresh on-site daily, offering a depth of flavour that BBQ enthusiasts will deeply appreciate.

Located at 1 Springfield Lakes Boulevard, the Springlake Hotel is open Monday to Thursday from 11.30am to 8.30pm, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 9pm, and Sundays from 11am to 8.30pm.
