THE Ipswich Jets produced a first-half masterclass to down the Brisbane Tigers 28-16 in a fiery clash at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast.
A stunning five-try blitz in the opening 20 minutes saw the Jets race to a commanding 24-0 lead, with Ken Maumalo (7’), Arama Hau (10’), Oliver Pascoe (13’), Luke Maddaford (15’), and Oskar Bryant (18’) all crossing the line.
Alofiana Khan-Pereira added a sixth try in the 29th minute to cap off a dominant offensive display.
Connor Broadhurst nailed two conversions from close range to help extend the Jets’ lead.
Despite the early onslaught, the Tigers fought back with three unanswered tries of their own through Josiah Pahulu (20’), Asher O’Donnell (24’), and Josh Smith (28’), with Tahj Wood converting twice to narrow the deficit to 28-16 by halftime.
However, the second half turned into a defensive grind, with neither side adding to the scoreboard.
Strong performances from Jets playmaker Broadhurst and try-scorer Bryant helped maintain control in the second stanza, while the Tigers were unable to capitalise on their late momentum.
The win was another strong statement from the Jets, who continue to build consistency in their 2025 Hostplus Cup campaign.
The Jets will return to North Ipswich Reserve on Sunday to host the Central Queensland Capras, with kick-off at 2.10pm.
