THE Rotary Club of Booval has once again shown the true meaning of community spirit, stepping up to help flood-affected families in western Queensland rebuild their lives.

When devastating floods swept through the region earlier this year, many residents were left with a heartbreaking challenge: plenty of willing hands ready to help, but not enough tools to get the job done.

Through local contacts, the Booval club quickly identified this critical need – and got to work.

Members reached out to other Rotary clubs and the wider community, calling for tool donations to assist the recovery effort. The response was nothing short of incredible.

Retired tradespeople, families downsizing, and generous locals donated hundreds of essential items, including hammers, spanners, drills, concrete trowels, saw horses, eskies, shovels, axes, rakes, and even a complete PA system for rodeos.

In just a short time, the collection grew to three pallets and three large crates, weighing an estimated 1 to 1.5 tonnes. These much-needed supplies are now on their way to flood-hit communities, thanks to the generous support of Quilpie Transport, which provided free delivery.

While the total value of the donations is difficult to calculate, the impact on those who lost so much will be immeasurable.

“This has been a wonderful team effort,” said Rotary Club of Booval President Graham Keidge PHF.

“It shows the generosity of our local community and the power of Rotary in action.”

For more than 50 years, the Rotary Club of Booval has been dedicated to serving the community, and this latest initiative is yet another example of its commitment to helping others.

If you have tools you’d like to donate, please contact Bevan on 0419 643 348 or Graham on 0408 884 357.
