Well it’s now time, one round of the NRL to go this coming weekend and not too much can change.

The Broncos have found fourth spot, much to the disappointment of the Warriors. The Warriors were sitting pretty in the top four but again, lacked the class to nail it home.

This Thursday night’s game between the Storm and the Broncos could be season defining. The Storm probably deserve to be favourites in the eyes of many, but for me, I think the Broncos have woken up and are now getting on with business.

The Broncos are a team chock full of game breakers and can also rattle a few cages with their defence. But I suspect coach Michael McGuire had a difficult job on his hands when he first took over as head coach of the club following the sacking of Kevin Walters.

Personally, I really felt for Walters and still think to this day it was a dumb decision by the club, but history will be the judge.

But moving back to this next round, there is a golden opportunity for the Broncos to prove their true worth by beating the Storm and then charging into the finals.

I do think the boys from Brisbane have the class to make the 2025 NRL season their own.

However, the Canberra Raiders are a team that could blow the Broncos’ dreams for this year right out of contention, but we will see.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has done an absolutely fantastic job with his team and doesn’t have the natural talent to call on like other clubs for example, the Broncos and Storm. But he has every one of his players playing to their potential – few other coaches can say that.

The Bulldogs were at the top of the media’s playlist for a while but after this next round, I think they will be found out in the finals.

The smokeys are the Sharks – they have been erratic, but on their day, they could be the giant killers.
