ABC iview’s gripping drama I, Jack Wright plunges viewers into the turbulent aftermath of a powerful businessman’s mysterious death.
Jack Wright, played by Trevor Eve, is found dead in what appears to be a suicide – but as the layers of his life unravel, it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems.
The series opens with Jack’s funeral, a tense gathering that exposes fractures within the Wright family. His third wife, Sally Wright (Nikki
Amuka-Bird), is blindsided when Jack’s will leaves her and their children virtually nothing.
His first wife, Rose (Gemma Jones), and their sons Gray (John Simm) and John (Daniel Rigby) are equally stunned, sparking a bitter battle over inheritance and legacy.
Detective Chief Inspector Hector Morgan (Harry Lloyd) leads the investigation, peeling back the polished veneer of the Wright dynasty. As secrets emerge – affairs, betrayals and hidden agendas – DC Katie Jones (Liz Kingsman) and lawyer Laura Johnstone (Rakhee Thakrar) become key players in uncovering the truth.
The cast also includes Ruby Ashbourne Serkis as Emily Wright, Gray’s daughter, and Percelle Ascott as her boyfriend Reuben Maguire.
The show’s strength lies in its layered storytelling and complex character dynamics. Each episode deepens the mystery surrounding Jack’s death. The tension escalates as DCI Morgan uncovers shocking revelations that suggest Jack’s demise may not have been self-inflicted.
With stellar performances and a tightly woven plot, I, Jack Wright is a compelling exploration of a family in freefall.
It’s not just a whodunit – it’s a study in how far people will go to protect their secrets, and what happens when the truth refuses to stay buried.
