THE Ipswich Musketeers are eight rounds into the Greater Brisbane League season, and if there’s one thing they’ve proven so far, it’s that no two diamonds play the same.

From unbeaten runs to uphill battles, the club is putting on a little bit of everything as the long march towards March finals continues.

Division 5 is where the Musketeers are really flexing. Undefeated at 5-0, they’re matching Carina Red Sox stride for stride in what’s shaping up to be a season-long game of “who blinks first”. So far, nobody has blinked.

At the opposite end of proceedings, Division 6 is having the sort of start you try to laugh about so you don’t cry.

Winless from four attempts, they’re camped at the bottom of the ladder while the Southern Stars have rocketed ahead with a perfect record.

The good news? There’s plenty of season left to cause some mischief.

Division 3 is living life in the middle lane, picking up two wins, three losses and a draw along the way to eighth spot.

Meanwhile, Windsor Royal Blues and Mudgeeraba Red Sox are swanning about the top of the table undefeated, leaving everyone else plotting ways to trip them up.

Division 4 hasn’t quite found its groove yet either, with only one win from five games and a second-last placing to show for it.

Mt Gravatt Eagles are soaring above the rest, undefeated after six, which is frankly just showing off!

The women’s side of the diamond is delivering its own mix of fortunes.

In Division 1, Ipswich sits fourth with one win from three outings, still well in touch with the pack. Division 2 is faring slightly better with a tidy 2-2 split, keeping them within striking distance of something more exciting as the season rolls on.

It’s been a colourful start for the Musketeers – some shining, some scrambling, all swinging for something better in the back half of the season.
