WHISKEY Power bounced back in style with a strong two-length victory over the 352m at Q1 Lakeside, securing his first win since the QGold Blitz in May.

“Great to see him back in the winner’s circle,” trainer Casey Dargusch said.

“Really happy with his run. He went off a bit so we spelled him. He ran at Casino last week and it wasn’t a great run, but a change of scenery has done him the world of good.”

The Whiskey Riot-Power Service chaser now boasts an impressive record of 38 starts for 11 wins, two seconds and five thirds, pushing his prizemoney to $24,260.

Debuting in June 2024, Whiskey Power found the line winning just three weeks later and has since raced across six tracks over distances between 300m and 431m, showcasing consistent versatility.

His brother, Whiskey Service, stepped out the following night in a drop back to the 520m after 13 consecutive starts at 600m to 710m. Despite jumping favourite from the striped box, he found early trouble and finished fifth.

“Bit disappointed but he got jammed early and couldn’t get a run,” Dargusch said.

“Not his ideal distance but hopefully we can find a 600m race for him next week. That’s his first unplaced run in a long time so I’m not overly concerned.”

With $78,760 in earnings, Whiskey Service has now gone unplaced only twice in his past 15 starts, carrying a career record of 45:14-8-10.

Kennelmate Kyoto also delivered a strong performance, claiming her first win down the 350m straight last Thursday. Jumping from the blue box, she pinged the lids and held off a late challenge from Showtime Donald to score.

“Really happy with her run,” Dargusch said.

“That’s only her second run there so she’s done super. She loves straight racing.”

The Bernardo-Gunnell chaser has built an impressive record down the Capalaba straight, with 25 runs for eight wins, eight seconds and three thirds.
