CHRISTMAS has come early for hundreds of Goodna families as St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland volunteers rolled up their sleeves to pack festive hampers for households feeling the strain of rising living costs.
More than 100 society members and volunteers gathered at St Francis Xavier School, transforming the hall into a bustling production line of goodwill. Together they packed hundreds of hampers with pantry staples, festive treats and essential items to ensure no family misses out on Christmas joy.
St Francis Xavier Conference President Rose Bagoly said the annual Christmas hamper effort had become a vital support for local families doing it tough.
“Every hamper is a reminder that our community cares,” Ms Bagoly said.
“This year has been incredibly challenging for so many families in Goodna. To see our members, volunteers and donors come together like this shows the true spirit of Christmas.”
Volunteers said the mood on the day was upbeat as people of all ages joined the packing line, sharing stories, laughter and a common purpose.
The Society will distribute the hampers to Goodna families in the coming days, ensuring they arrive in time for Christmas celebrations.
