A major new logistics hub at Swanbank is set to transform the way liquor is distributed across Queensland, with the opening of a purpose-built facility designed to support the rapid growth of the Independent Liquor Group (ILG) and strengthen supply chains across the state.
The Swanbank Distribution Centre represents a significant investment in Queensland’s logistics infrastructure and marks a new chapter in ILG’s operations.
Spanning approximately 30,846 square metres, the facility has been purpose-designed to meet the evolving demands of modern liquor distribution while delivering greater efficiency, reliability and scalability for the group’s members and partners.
At the centre of the operation is a vast, high-capacity warehouse fitted with advanced materials-handling systems that streamline the movement of stock from receival through to dispatch.
These systems are designed to improve pick accuracy, increase throughput and reduce turnaround times, ensuring retailers receive consistent and reliable supply.
The scale of the warehouse reflects the growing demand across Queensland’s independent liquor sector.
With the State continuing to experience population growth and strong retail demand, ILG’s investment positions the organisation to support its members well into the future.
Protecting product quality has also been a key focus of the facility’s design. Temperature-controlled zones throughout the distribution centre ensure wines, spirits and other sensitive products are stored and handled under carefully managed conditions, preserving product integrity from arrival to delivery.
The site also features extensive loading infrastructure and a dedicated dock office to manage the large volume of freight moving through the facility each day.
The layout has been carefully planned to improve workflow efficiency, minimise truck dwell times and support safe movement of vehicles and staff throughout the site.
Beyond its operational benefits, the $35 million development represents a significant economic boost for the region.
More than 400 local jobs have been created through the project, strengthening employment opportunities and contributing to the continued growth of the Swanbank and wider Ipswich area.
As the central logistics hub for ILG’s Queensland operations, the Swanbank Distribution Centre will play a critical role in improving the group’s supply chain performance.
By increasing efficiency and strengthening route-to-market capabilities, the facility ensures ILG can continue delivering reliable service to its network of independent retailers and hospitality venues across the State.
The investment also reflects the increasing importance of resilient, well-designed supply chains in a rapidly changing retail environment.
For ILG, the Swanbank Distribution Centre is more than just a warehouse.
It is a strategic commitment to Queensland, to the independent liquor industry, and to building a supply chain capable of supporting the sector’s growth for many years to come.
