AUTUMN is the perfect time to explore the natural beauty of Ipswich’s creeks and rivers, and the city’s biennial WaterFest program is making it easier than ever to do just that.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said WaterFest is packed with activities to help residents connect with their local waterways.
“You’ll be inspired to get outdoors and discover the Bremer River, our stretch of the Brisbane River, and the many creeks throughout Ipswich,” Mayor Harding said.
“Get your rods ready, because the Catch, Snap & Win fishing competition is back. Just by taking part, you could go in the draw to win a kayak!
“WaterFest is also a chance to try something new, with ‘learn to fish’ sessions and canoeing basics on offer for all ages.”
Nature enthusiasts can dive deeper into the biodiversity of Ipswich’s waterways with waterbug investigations at Tulmur Place, free workshops at the Queens Park Environmental Education Centre, and a special bird walk through an Enviroplan conservation reserve.
Families can enjoy waterway-themed adventures with the Agents of Discovery app, completing fun, interactive challenges at various WaterFest locations.
