Two of Australia’s fastest drivers are set to bring serious horsepower to Ipswich, with Supercars stars Brodie Kostecki and Rylan Gray headlining this year’s Planes, Trains and Autos festival.
The pair will showcase one of the iconic Shell V-Power Mustangs from the Shell V-Power Racing Team at the festival’s flagship event, Fully Charged, held at the Queensland Museum Rail Workshops in North Ipswich on Saturday.
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the high-profile appearance is just one of many drawcards across the action-packed long weekend from 2–4 May.
“Every year, Planes, Trains and Autos delivers unforgettable experiences for fans of mechanical power,” Mayor Harding said.
“As a motorsport-loving city, many of us have watched the iconic red, yellow and white Shell V-Power Mustangs tearing up Supercars tracks from afar.
“Now it’s our chance to get up close to a real competition race car – and meet the drivers, including Brodie, the 2023 Supercars champion, and rising talent Rylan.”
Fully Charged will also feature an impressive lineup of displays, including emergency services vehicles, Ipswich Waste Services trucks and a Bell 206 JetRanger helicopter. Adding to the spectacle, aerial displays will take to the skies with Freedom Formation and Matt Hall Racing pilot Kris Sieczkowski.
Mayor Harding said new additions to the 2026 program are also generating excitement, including Monster Machine Day at Stockland Providence in South Ripley on Sunday, 3 May.
“This will be an epic showcase of SEE Civil’s hardest-working machines and a chance to meet the crews behind them,” she said.
For motorsport fans, Willowbank will roar to life across the weekend, with the 2 Days of Thunder event delivering high-octane racing across nine categories at Queensland Raceway, alongside the Diesel Assault drag racing meet at nearby Willowbank Raceway.
