A Beaudesert volunteer who has spent years quietly powering local sport and community groups has been formally recognised, with Scenic Rim Regional Council shining a light on her dedication at a recent sports club information evening.
Primary school teacher Nat Ford was nominated by the Beaudesert Swimming Club for her outstanding contribution across multiple organisations, including her roles as Treasurer for both the Beaudesert Swimming Club and the Beaudesert Netball Club.
Widely regarded as someone who is always first to step forward, Mrs Ford has devoted countless hours to keeping both clubs running smoothly. From managing finances to coordinating logistics, her behind-the-scenes work has been vital to their continued success.
She has also been instrumental in organising major fundraising events for the swimming club and is a familiar face at club nights and carnivals. Notably, she has continued volunteering over the past two years even after her own children stopped competing.
Her community involvement extends beyond sport, serving as Vice President of the local kindergarten and contributing to the broader Beaudesert community.
In a fitting twist, Mrs Ford was unable to attend the presentation night, because she was volunteering, and received her award later.
Reflecting on her journey, Mrs Ford said her commitment to volunteering began at 18 with the local netball club and has continued ever since.
“Over those years I’ve worked with so many community-minded and committed people,” she said.
“The people I have volunteered alongside have taught me so much and continue to inspire me to stay involved in sporting clubs today.
“I do it for the kids honestly. I love seeing them enjoy sport, no matter what it is, and I love the team environment.
“My own children are teenagers now and still involved in sporting groups. I love seeing families connect and parents build friendships through sport.
“It’s that sense of connection and community that keeps me volunteering.”
