BASIL Coker and Alan Wallis are on a mission. They belong to the Ipswich Retired Motor Industries Personnel club which is having a luncheon on Wednesday, July 13, at the Ipswich Golf Club.

They are keen to let the public know who they are and what they do.

“We have been meeting as a group once every two weeks for nearly four years for morning tea and
have about 35 members,” Mr Coker said.

“Anyone involved in the motoring industry can join. We talk about the latest in the industry and what has gone before.”

They both say the club acts very much like a men’s shed – except it’s for motoring people. And
membership is growing. “It’s a good fellowship.

We talk about everything and anything,” Mr Wallis said.

Next week’s event will be their first mid-year function and will feature a Christmas in July theme. It will run from 11.30am-12noon.

“We take our wives out for lunch twice a year to keep family connections active, etc.”

The club also has a morning tea at Winston Glades (Café 63) every second Friday of the month. The next one is on July 15.
