THANKS: More and more teenagers are now reaching out for help.
YOUNG people in Blair will soon benefit from improvements to the local Headspace youth mental health centre, with the Albanese Government providing more than $1 million in funding to Ipswich Headspace.
The funding is being provided under the Headspace Demand Management and Enhancement Grant Opportunity and will go towards employing more staff to reduce wait times and improve mental health services.
Federal Member for Blair, Shayne Neumann, said this will go a long way towards supporting young Australians in the Ipswich region who need mental health support.
“Right now, demand for mental health support is at an all-time high across Australia,” he said.
“Many young people in our community are experiencing psychological distress as they deal with the growing pressures of school, work, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This funding is welcome news for teenagers and young adults in my electorate who deserve to have the care they need when they need it, close to home.
“Headspace is such a vital service for young Australians and I want to make sure people in my community have access to the services they need when they need them.”
This funding is part of a wider $44 million announcement for 57 Headspace services across Australia under the Headspace Demand Management and Enhancement Grant Opportunity.
Mr Neumann said the Headspace funding comes on top of his election commitment to deliver a new Head to Health adult mental health centre in Ipswich.
“Before the election, Federal Labor committed $14 million over four years for the Darling Downs and West Moreton Primary Health Network to fund and establish the centre.
