REDBANK Plains commuters are set to benefit from upgraded bus infrastructure, with works now underway at Redbank Plains Town Square as part of a broader push to improve public transport across Ipswich’s rapidly growing communities.
Upgrades to Stops C and D are being delivered through the Ipswich Growth Bus Services Program, with the works aimed at improving accessibility, safety and passenger comfort while supporting expanded bus services across the region.
Councillor Pye Augustine welcomed the investment, saying transport infrastructure needed to keep pace with the continued growth of Redbank Plains and surrounding suburbs.
“The Redbank Plains community continues to grow, and it’s important that our public transport infrastructure keeps pace with that growth,” Cr Augustine said.
“The improvements to Stops C and D at Redbank Plains Town Square will enhance accessibility, safety and comfort for passengers while supporting expanded bus services across our region.”
The works are being delivered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in partnership with Ipswich City Council as part of the three-stage Ipswich Growth Bus Services Program.
The program is designed to improve existing bus services and introduce new routes across key growth areas of Ipswich.
Works at the Town Square include a new concrete slab and footpath connections, new bus stop infrastructure and shelters, bin facilities and improvements to road pavement, drainage, signage and line marking.
Most of the remaining construction will be carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic and the public transport network.
Cr Augustine urged residents to remain patient while the work was completed.
