WHEN we think of Queensland Raceway we immediately picture the V8 Supercars or the TCR Australia rounds, we don’t think it’s possible to take our cars on the famous Queensland Raceway known as the paperclip.

QR Event’s manager Daniel Sharp recently introduced a unique concept he’s tagged ‘Cruise the Night’.

It’s an event where the average person whether it be you, mum, dad, nan or pop can get on track to see what it’s all about.

It’s not about who has the fastest car it’s about having a good time with family and friends, and it seems that’s the new motto since Tony Quinn jumped on board.

Undertaking a huge makeover during the last 12 months the venue is slowly making its way to becoming a truly first class racetrack precinct.

Considering it’s all funded by Tony and he’s had no government handouts it has been truly a mission of passion.

Upgrades have included new conference rooms, covered garages, resurfaced track, new toilets and catering, and most of all shade from the brutal Ipswich summer.

Cruise the night doesn’t really need the shade but it’s a great start to the new life of the racetrack and with events like this becoming more popular and regular it is bringing fresh faces to the Ipswich Motorsport Precinct.

With the likes of Cr Nicole Jonic backing the project it can only go forward.

She is always showing a genuine interest in pushing motorsport forward and she doesn’t just not just turn up and smile for a press shot.

With a long family history in motorsport, she has a genuine interest and participates at events on both a personal and work level.

The next Cruise the Night is on the December 3 at Queensland Raceway and full info can be found on their website.
