FIREFIGHTERS were continuing efforts to contain a large bushfire at South Ripley on Tuesday after the blaze tore through approximately 250 hectares as temperatures increased across the region.
As of Tuesday morning, the fire remained partially contained, with crews working to establish further containment lines and reinforce those put in place during Monday’s firefighting effort.
About 250 hectares had been burnt as of 11pm Monday, highlighting the scale of the blaze that prompted a significant response on the ground and from the air.
A total of 18 Rural Fire Service appliances and five Fire and Rescue appliances were deployed to the fire on Monday, supported by eight command vehicles.
Water-bombing aircraft were also used to attack the blaze from above, while additional aircraft carried out mapping and intelligence work.
Despite the size of the fire, reported property losses as of Tuesday morning were limited to two small sheds.
