STRONG demand for new housing in Ipswich’s growth corridor has driven the rapid take-up of a $96 million Collingwood Park development, with the 196-lot community nearing a complete sell-out.
Brisbane developer SKF Development has completed the final stage of its ForestBrook Collingwood Park project, alongside a new community playground and parklands, with only a handful of homesites remaining.
The 30-hectare development, opposite Woodlinks Primary School and accessed from Woodlinks Way and Mahogany St, has progressed rapidly since its first 48 homesites sold out within just three weeks of launching.
SKF Development Manager Calum Buchanan said the speed of sales had exceeded expectations and allowed the developer to bring new housing supply to the market sooner.
“We are extremely pleased and surprised at the speed at which ForestBrook has sold, which also allowed us to quickly deliver this substantial new residential community into an undersupplied market,” Mr Buchanan said.
“We’re excited to welcome the first residents to their new Collingwood Park address, and it’s rewarding to see new homes taking shape and our first new residents moving in.”
For first-home buyer Vanessa Singh, securing a block at ForestBrook came after more than a year of searching for suitable land for her young family.
With two preschool-aged children, Ms Singh said proximity to Woodlinks Primary School and nearby shops had been major attractions.
“Our oldest will start at Woodlinks next year, so the timing for us to start building this year was perfect, as we’d been looking for land for over a year before finding this community,” she said.
“After missing out on so many properties, and with most new homes being out of our price range, to be able to buy land and build our new four-bedroom home in ForestBrook for under our budget of $1 million was really important to us.”
The family is expected to move into its new home later this year, about 100 metres from the development’s newly completed playground.
The playground and surrounding parklands were officially opened by Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding on Monday, August 17.
Mayor Harding said the completion of almost 200 new properties was welcome.
“The delivery of 196 new properties at ForestBrook is very welcome at such a critical time for the market in South East Queensland,” she said.
