ANOTHER Ritchies Boonah Arts Festival is done and dusted for 2026 and the winners have been chosen, and Ipswich Arts Connect members did not disappoint receiving awards in nearly every category.
This amazing festival has been running for over 20 years with its incredible support from Ritchies Supa IGA, providing opportunities for community members of all ages to perform, enter competitions and attend workshops and events over its week-long celebrations.
Culminating with its Festival Finale on Saturday, September 6, fashion was on the catwalk, including wearable art/revamped and a touch of class.
The audience was entertained with performances by the Boonah High School Rock Band, and the most incredible piano and vocals by some of the most talented youth.
Ipswich was well represented, with Grant Quinn taking out first and second in Photography, as well as second in the 100-word Writing section, Glen Smith receiving second in Painting, Neil Herbert receiving a highly commended in Painting, Carole Kom from CMK Creative Studio taking the winner’s gong for her Wearable Art titled Falling Leaves, Toni McIsaac receiving a second in 3D for her incredible Timber Sculpture work Dotties NEW recycled outfit, and also a second for her Wearable Art titled Miss Gold Leaf, Martin Page receiving second in Works on Paper, and Kayla Clarke receiving a Highly Commended in Works on Paper, first in Mixed Media and also People Choice for another Mixed Media piece titled Country Coo.
It was a fantastic night all round.
The Boonah and District Cultural Foundation Inc aim is to widen the knowledge and understanding and appreciation of artistic creative and cultural needs and objectives in the community at large and is run entirely by volunteers.
A huge shout out to Julie Vellacott (President) and Lacey Sawtell (Festival Coordinator) for their dedication and commitment in ensuring this festival continues to grow.
