BROTHERS Leagues Club has delivered a $119,529.39 boost to the Ipswich community, sharing funding among 40 organisations that support local families, nurture young talent and help people through some of life’s toughest challenges.
Recipients were recognised at last week’s Brothers Helping Others Community Grants Presentation Night, with sporting clubs, schools, charities and community groups all sharing in the funding.
The grants demonstrate the reach of the club’s contribution to Ipswich, extending from junior sporting fields and school communities to organisations supporting people facing illness, disability and hardship.
Behind each recipient is a network of members, volunteers and families whose work keeps the city connected.
Among the health and community support recipients were Ipswich Hospice Care, Ipswich Prostate Cancer Support Group, HeartKids Limited, Alara QLD Limited, Helping Hands (QLD), Ipswich Assist, Centre for Men and Families Australia and Family of League Foundation.
Education also featured strongly, with Ripley Valley State Secondary College P&C, Silkstone State School P&C, Claremont Special School P&C and Jacaranda Street Community Kindergarten & Preschool receiving grants.
For local sport, the funding reached well beyond rugby league. Athletics, swimming, hockey, softball, cricket, basketball, netball, bowls, archery and table tennis organisations were represented, reflecting the broad sporting community Brothers is helping to support.
Recipients included Ipswich & District Athletics Club, Providence Athletics, Ipswich Little Athletics, Ipswich Community Swim Club, Ipswich Table Tennis, Renegade Bowmen, Ipswich Bowls Club, Swifts Hockey Club and Hancock Brothers Hockey Club.
Brothers Junior RLFC Ipswich, Brothers Rugby League Football Club Ipswich, Rugby League Ipswich, Brothers Cricket Club, Brothers Netball Club and Brothers Basketball Club also received grants, alongside Musketeers Softball Club and Black Cats Softball Club.
