TV BLACKBOX

BIG BROTHER is officially back – and this time the all-seeing eye will be watching from Brisbane.

Network 10 has locked in Monday, October 26 at 7.30pm for the return of Big Brother Australia, with the reality television heavyweight set to air six nights a week.

But the biggest change is happening outside the game itself, with production leaving Dreamworld on the Gold Coast after last year’s revival and moving into an entirely new purpose-built house at Screen Queensland Studios in Hemmant.

Host Mel Tracina will return to oversee the chaos after fronting the show’s return to Network 10 last year, with live nominations, evictions and audience involvement again at the heart of the format.

This time, however, Big Brother appears determined to make life even more unpredictable for his newest residents.

Network 10 is promising a season packed with tricks, pranks and surprises, including a nominations twist, an eviction shake-up and greater power for viewers from the very first night.

Perhaps the biggest question surrounds the arrival of the mysterious “Mystery Button”, which has featured prominently in the first promotion for the new season – without any explanation of exactly what will happen when somebody inevitably presses it.

The house itself is also being promoted as part of the game, with Big Brother warning contestants they should not necessarily believe everything they see.

Big Brother first became a television phenomenon after launching on Network 10 in 2001, before later incarnations appeared on Nine and Seven.

It returned home to 10 in 2025, bringing back some of the ingredients synonymous with its original success.

Construction on the new house began at Hemmant earlier this year, with 10 promising the return of live evictions, live nominations and live streaming alongside a longer run for the 2026 experiment.
