FIVE new dugouts are nearing completion at two Collingwood Park sporting clubs, delivering improved game-day facilities for hundreds of local players, coaches, officials and families.
The upgrades at Westminster Warriors Soccer Club and Collingwood Park Power AFL have reached their final stages, with concrete slabs and shade shelters now installed and only signage remaining before the project is complete.
Funded through Ipswich City Council’s Provisional Project Funding, the project will deliver two new dugouts at Westminster Warriors Soccer Club and three at Collingwood Park Power AFL.
The facilities will be used by Westminster Warriors Soccer Club, Collingwood Park Power Seniors and Collingwood Park Power Junior AFC, supporting hundreds of players, coaches, officials, volunteers and families.
Councillor Pye Augustine recently joined Westminster Warriors Soccer Club president Sue Peacock to inspect the progress and said the investment would improve facilities while supporting growing participation in community sport.
“Our local sporting clubs are the heart of the community, bringing people together, encouraging active lifestyles and providing opportunities for players of all ages to develop their skills and build lasting friendships,” Cr Augustine said.
“These new dugouts will provide improved facilities for players, coaches and officials, while enhancing the overall experience for everyone involved on game day. I am pleased to see this project progressing and look forward to seeing the finished facilities being enjoyed by our local clubs for many years to come.”
Cr Augustine also thanked the clubs and their volunteers for the work they put into community sport, saying they played an important role in creating welcoming and inclusive environments for residents.
With construction largely complete, the finishing touches will soon be added before the five dugouts are ready for local teams to put to use.
