SHARON “Shaz” McRae’s involvement in Rugby League just got sweeter recently when she accepted a key position in the development of Rugby League with the Philippines Sampaguitas women’s team.

After running the water as one of the trainers at the recent Asian Footy Fest in Brisbane for the side she was offered the role of manager and she had no hesitation in saying yes.

“I may be the manager of the team, but I will do what is asked of me, even if that means picking up rubbish after the game,” Sharon said.

The Philippine side won their Brisbane clash before just losing to Malta and now have their eyes set on a clash in Sydney early next year again Greece.

After this game a USA tour in the middle of the year is on the agenda.

“The girls are a great bunch and I love watching them play our great game,” Sharon said.

“Hopefully this international experience will encourage more girls to represent an emerging nation and help them make the next World Cup.”
