A STAR POTRAIT: Artist Starr and her muse Emily Carter.

THE beautiful and talented Emily Carter a current lead dancer of La Nouvelle Eve Cabaret in Paris came to Ipswich recently to pose for local artist Starr in her studio.

Starr’s studio is situated in the heritage part of Top of Town Ipswich in Ellenborough Street.

She said Emily was one of her muses and had featured in many of her figurative series of paintings.

Emily had returned from Paris for a break from her role as lead dancer in the revue and was keen to continue her collaboration posing for Starr.

Emily dances in a revue for La Nouvelle Eve Cabaret which is one of the oldest and most elegant revue theatres in Paris.

The revue is a dazzling blend of music hall and cabaret, the perfect blend of Parisian chic and new artistic trends.

Starr is a contemporary Australian Magical Realism artist. A visit to her gallery is like walking into a page of Alice and Wonderland.

Every part of her gallery is a magical feast for the eyes, bright colourful and even a bit extravagant.

Starr had Emily posed atop a magnificent Carousel Unicorn dressed in a mermaid’s costume.

A unique and unusual combination and I believe the painting will be created to be as if under the water.

I cannot wait to see the finished artwork.

The gallery is open to the public the first Saturday of every month. For more information about Starr go to her Facebook Page,
