IPSWICH has officially levelled up its entertainment scene, with Area 51 Ipswich opening the Southern Hemisphere’s largest indoor entertainment venue at Citiswich Business Park.
Spanning a huge 10,000 square metres, the new facility is designed as a one-stop destination for families, combining high-energy play with unique attractions rarely seen in Queensland.
At the centre of it all is a standout feature – a massive 1000sqm snow room, delivering a year-round winter experience in the heart of South East Queensland.
Beyond the snow, the complex boasts 8000sqm of indoor entertainment space paired with 2000sqm of outdoor activities, catering to kids, teens and adults.
From active play zones to party spaces, the venue is built with family connection and celebration in mind.
Walker Corporation Group Executive of Development Peter Saba said the opening represents another step forward in the evolution of the Citiswich precinct.
“The opening of Area 51 brings something new and exciting to the precinct, creating a destination where families can come together, local kids can stay active and the broader community can enjoy a high-quality recreation experience close to home.”
Once known primarily for industry, Citiswich is rapidly transforming into a modern mixed-use destination.
The addition of Area 51 strengthens that transformation, offering a place for families to gather while supporting the local economy.
The venue is expected to create more than 200 jobs, adding to Ipswich’s growing reputation as a hub for both employment and lifestyle.
Area 51 Chief Operating Officer Michael Affleck said Ipswich was a natural fit for the brand’s latest expansion.
“Ipswich is a region full of young families looking for exciting activities and entertainment, so we’re excited to bring the Area 51 experience to Citiswich Business Park,” he said.
“Our centres are designed to be places where kids can be active, families can spend quality time together and communities can gather and celebrate birthdays and other milestones.”
Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding welcomed the development, highlighting its broader impact.
“This is a fantastic addition for Ipswich and particularly for the Bundamba community,” she said.
Spanning 350 hectares, Citiswich Business Park remains one of South East Queensland’s largest master planned industrial precincts, strategically positioned near major transport corridors.
