DID you know that local Ipswich identity Arthur Frame once played Humphry B Bear?
This is just one highlight that this amazing artistic icon has notched up over an incredible career spanning more than 50 years across Australian radio, television and theatre, as an actor, director, artistic director, playwright, theatre manager, chief executive officer and board director.
Working with the ABC, Channel 9, Queensland Theatre Company, Queensland Arts Council, Arts Queensland as well as his own companies, Frame was also Assistant Director of London’s Royal Court Theatre.
Throughout his career, he has played many pivotal roles in the entertainment industry and was acknowledged as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2008 for his significant service to the performing arts and community.
He was also awarded the Ipswich Australia Day Cultural Award in 2019 for recognition for his community engagement in the arts and programs such as The National Trust Great Houses of Ipswich. With a passion for the preservation of Australia’s built, cultural and natural environment, Frame continues to be an active advocate.
Late last year, he released his book The Arts Juggler, but the question remains, how do you squeeze over 50 years into one book.
My thought is … you can’t … so will there be a second book?
