IN Round 5 of the Hostplus Cup, it was the Burleigh Bears who claimed a 36-16 victory over the Ipswich Jets at North Ipswich Reserve.

The Bears took a 22-6 lead into the halftime break, on the way to securing victory and fifth position on the competition ladder.

Despite the loss, the Jets did have some reason for celebration, honouring previous players who have worn the jersey during the club’s proud history.

This featured a special recognition for their second-highest capped player, Tyson Lofipo, who with 210 games under his belt, is said to bleed green and white.

The Jets started the 2025 Hostplus Cup season in style, and recently secured back-to-back victories – a 34-20 win over the Tigers on the road, followed by a hard-fought 28-24 triumph against the Tweed Seagulls in front of the faithful at North Ipswich Reserve.

On Sunday, there are high hopes for a return to winning ways, with the Jets hosting the PGN Hunters at North Ipswich Reserve at 3pm, with full focus on getting back on track.
