ASPIRING actors are being invited to throw their hats in the ring for a new homegrown sitcom being filmed in Springfield, which is hoping to bring a distinctly Queensland flavour to the small screen.
Writer and creator Terry Greisbach is on the hunt for the cast of Together Now Somehow, a comedy following six tenants sharing the rent and the chaos at an old property in the Queensland hinterland.
The six housemates are each attempting to navigate ambitious and sometimes wild career pivots, providing plenty of material for a sitcom built around friendship, personalities colliding, and the realities of trying to reinvent your life.
Greisbach has poured countless nights into writing the project, with the ambition of filming a pilot episode in 2027.
The sitcom carries its own Australian identity while taking some inspiration from the ensemble chemistry of television classics such as Friends, a series Greisbach loved watching repeatedly.
Now the words on the page are beginning to come to life as the search for the right actors gathers momentum.
“The auditions so far have been truly exciting,” Greisbach said.
“Everything is moving perfectly towards the big goal of filming a pilot in 2027.
“The video auditions from around Australia are landing in the Together Now Somehow inbox.”
Rather than keeping the project under wraps, Greisbach has made the pilot script publicly available, giving prospective cast members the chance to get a feel for the humour, characters and world of the show before auditioning.
Detailed descriptions of the characters, including their personalities and individual comedic styles, are also available to help actors determine which role might suit them.
It means hopeful performers can do more than simply submit a generic audition, with Greisbach encouraging actors to read through the material and find the character they genuinely connect with.
With auditions already arriving from around the country, the immediate challenge will be finding six performers capable of creating the chemistry at the heart of any successful ensemble comedy.
