SHOUT-OUT FROM SHAYNE
FEDERAL MEMBER FOR BLAIR SHAYNE NEUMANN MP

IT’S been a big year.

Since the election, the Albanese Labor Government has stayed focused on delivering the commitments for which people in Blair voted.

We have cut student debt by 20 per cent, benefiting more than 23,000 people in the Blair electorate, and protected penalty rates for local workers, so they can earn more and keep more of what they earn.

We have delivered the biggest investment in Medicare in Australian history so you can see a GP for free, and stabilised bulk billing in Blair, while more GP practices have said they will become fully bulk billing clinics, thanks to the Government’s incentives.

Our Medicare Urgent Care Clinics in Ipswich and Goodna have seen large numbers of patients, taking pressure off the Ipswich Hospital Emergency Department, and we have made medicines cheaper.

In addition, we have made it easier to buy a home, with our new Help to Buy program and 5 per cent deposits for first home buyers, while our expanded Home Guarantee Scheme has already helped around 4000 people across Ipswich, the Somerset Region and Karana Downs area to buy their own home.

The Government used the last parliamentary sitting week of the year to highlight how our record of delivery and the implementation of our election commitments is having a positive impact and helping to make Australians’ lives better.

To cap it off, we succeeded in passing landmark environment law reforms, which will better protect nature, while speeding up approvals for housing and transport infrastructure projects in the fast-growing Ipswich region, like the Mount Crosby Road Interchange upgrade.

“Green tape” imposed by the previous laws was a big theme coming out of my successful Blair Growth and Productivity Roundtable in August, which fed into the Government’s National Economic Reform Roundtable.

Heading into 2026, we will keep our focus on helping you and your family with the cost of living.

I hope that you get the chance to rest and relax with family and friends, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who will be working through the festive period – the people giving up time with their families to keep us safe and to keep our vital services running.

It has been an honour to do my part delivering for Blair and I can’t wait to keep working hard for you next year to build a better future for our community.
