PLANNING TIME: The leadership team of the Bremer River Day Club plan out their upcoming activities. (Left to Right) Joan Conlan, Diana Theaker, Judith Hewson, Lorraine McLean and Molly Green.

FOR the past nine years a group of women at the CSI Club have been trying to persuade Ipswich seniors to get out of their La-Z-Boy recliners and come along to a fun social day out.

The Bremer River Day Club has done a great job of that, and hundreds of seniors have been part of their Monday morning get-togethers since the group formed in 2013.

Club secretary, Judith Hewson, said the club has more than 100 members and around 40 pop into the club on a regular Monday morning basis.

“The CSI club is a wonderful supporter and on Monday’s we put fun events on which we kick off with a morning tea and then lunch for just $12,” she said.

“The food is great, but it is not just about that, it’s about meeting others and enjoying a day out of the house.

“We combine our Mondays with other events and in October we’re off to Bribie Island on a bus trip.”

The club also has special dress up Mondays where they ask members to wear their craziest outfits.

Although that does not apply to their annual Melbourne Cup event.

Once a year the club also does a big charity day and this year, they will be raising funds again for Ipswich Hospice.

Last year they presented Hospice with a cheque for $2000 from their day.

If you’d like to join the party just go along to the CSI club any Monday starting from 11.30am and say Judith promised me a fun time.

I know she’ll deliver.
