HOW will your neighbourhood – and other areas important to you – look in a few years?

The Ipswich Plan 2024 is the proposed new planning scheme for the city and is open for community consultation until July 16.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said there were significant changes proposed in the new draft scheme given Ipswich’s record growth and the age of the current planning scheme.

“Council’s current planning scheme is one of the oldest in Queensland and it’s time for a new scheme that reflects modern community expectations and contemporary planning requirements,” Mayor Harding said.

“This draft planning scheme identifies where future growth and development should occur. It will benefit people, places, the environment and the economy.”

The draft Ipswich Plan 2024 is currently on the Shape Your Ipswich website, along with information videos, factsheets and breakdowns of the major components.

Mayor Harding said it was convenient to use the new tools to see how the new draft scheme would affect individual properties.

“The Shape Your Ipswich website has a ‘property search’ function where you can obtain a property report to see what is relevant to your property,” Mayor Harding said.

“This tool allows anyone to easily see the planned changes to their property, giving them time to make a submission. “We are also using this to educate our community on the importance of planning and how it can influence change.
