THE lids are about to fly on one of Queensland’s hottest racing seasons – the Golden Greys Summer Carnival – where the state’s fastest paws, biggest personalities and brightest young chasers will light up The Q.
Across two months of high-octane racing, more than $1.2 million in prizemoney will be up for grabs as the region’s elite greyhounds line up for fame, fortune and bragging rights.
From December’s festive sprints to February’s Group 1 grand finales, it’s shaping up to be a carnival to remember.
The party starts early at Lakeside on December 3, when the QGold Blitz gets tails wagging.
A week later, the QGold Summer Sprint and Summer Chase will see local rockets and up-and-comers battling it out for glory, while the Emerging Sprinters and Rookies categories promise a glimpse of the future stars of the sport.
Then it’s over to Parklands where December brings the Christmas Stocking and Middle-Distance Challenge, followed by the New Year’s Trophy on January 1 – the perfect way to kick off 2026 with a bang.
The heat really rises with the Group 2 Bogie Leigh Futurity and Queensland Derby, showcasing the best young dogs and bitches whelped after July 2023, before the mighty Group 1 Golden Sands and Golden Ticket take centre stage mid-month.
Come February, the track will thunder to the sound of legends in the making – the $375,000 Gold Bullion
and $150,000 Gold Cup headline the grand finale alongside the ever-popular Golden Oldies and Vince Curry Memorial.
